As Junior Category Manager, you will advise the customers (Mediamarkt, Telenet, …) in selecting the right products for their shops / online webshops.
Junior Category Managers conduct market research and analysis to understand consumer preferences, market trends and competition.
Assortment planning: As a Junior Category Manager, you will help select and put together the range of products within their category (GSM accessories, E-bikes, laptops, smartwatches, …). This includes deciding which products to purchase, which brands to include (e.g. Is there more market demand for HP laptops or Apple computers?), and which items to discontinue.
Promotions and marketing: You will work with marketing teams to plan and execute promotional campaigns, sales activities and advertising strategies for products in their category. For example, it’s back-to-school weeks: a Category Manager can check with his/her customer (e.g. Mediamarkt) whether it would be interesting to offer a discount on laptops for students. Because of this marketing campaign, more laptops will be sold so they can sell the laptops at a lower price than normal to make the same profit.
Supplier relations: You will maintain relationships with suppliers and negotiate terms, contracts and agreements.
